I've been skating for over 30 years and I rarely have problems with pro-level decks.

I would say go with the deck whose skate team represents your style of skateboarding or go for your favorite skater's deck, or go with the deck of a skater who you respect and is similar in size/body type as you. Also, just going with the graphic that felt like it best represented me or my state of mind at the time has always left me feeling good and connected with the board.
