what should i wear with skateboarding shoes?

so im looking into buying some skateboarding shoes like DC's or something but most of my style has been revolved around more of the running or basketball shoes.. are gym shorts out of the question? what exactly looks good with skateboarding shoes?

Well, I know some people who would wear DC's with gym shorts. But really, any shorts are fine with skateboarding shoes. The latest style is skinny jeans for guys and a plain T-shirt. But hey, that's what I see guys wear at my school. So, good luck!
