Make Your Own Skateboard Trucks
Can someone give me advice about skateboard purchasing?
I am considering getting my brother a new skateboard for his 14th birthday (in a few months). He often buys new decks and griptape and uses his old wheels and trucks but I would like to get him a complete skateboard. He left a CCS catalog in the bathroom and I have been looking at the skateboards where you pick your own deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, griptape, etc. to make a custom board. I think I know him well enough to pick out a deck and colors that he would like however I know very little about the brands and the specifics of trucks, bearings, etc. I recently was able to find out that he does not like Element decks (he claims they crack easily) and that he does like Black Label, Almost, and Darkstar.
Does anyone have favorites or particular preferences? Please anyone give me as much advice as possible about specifics in trucks, bearing, anything!!
I would like to get him a board that he can show off to his friends but also one that gives him good performance!
Get him this:
A zero deck (they got nice graphics, and they dont crack easily)
Grind King Trucks (great trucks, i've been using mine for years)
Spitfire wheels (ride smoothly)
Bones REDS bearings (really fast, and pretty cheap)
Black magic grip (lasts long)
